How to add or edit a chemical

Overview

The Chemicals section in the Gecko app lets you add the exact products you use to treat your spa water. By setting up your chemicals, the app can provide more accurate dosing recommendations based on your specific products.

You can add new chemicals, update existing ones, or remove products at any time.

Access the Chemicals section

  1. Open the Gecko app.

  2. Go to the Water section.

  3. Tap Chemicals.

Add a new chemical

  1. Select the chemical category you want to configure.

  2. Tap Add a new chemical.

  3. Follow the guided setup in the app.

Set up your product

During setup, you’ll be asked to provide details about your chemical:

  • Scan the barcode
    Use your camera to scan the product label
    (or choose manual entry if unavailable)

  • Select the active ingredient
    Choose the ingredient listed on your product

  • Enter the concentration
    Add the percentage shown on the packaging

  • Select product size (if applicable)
    Choose the format that matches your product

  • Confirm your details
    Review and tap Start using to save

Edit or remove a chemical

  1. Open the Chemicals section.

  2. Select the product you want to update.

  3. Choose to:

    • Use this product

    • Edit details

    • Delete the product

Why this matters

Adding your exact chemicals allows the app to:

  • Provide more precise recommendations

  • Adapt instructions to your specific products

  • Help maintain better water balance

💡 Tip: If you change brands or products, update your chemicals to keep recommendations accurate.
