How to test your water

Overview

Testing your water regularly helps keep your spa clean, safe, and properly balanced. The Gecko app makes it easy to add new readings, whether you’re using test strips, store results, or manual measurements.

If you have a Gecko waterlab, some values are measured automatically, but testing your water is still important to track additional parameters.

Test your water

To add new readings:

  1. Open the Gecko app.

  2. Go to the Water section.

  3. Tap Test Your Water.

Choose how to enter your results

You’ll have two options:

Scan test strip (Premium feature)

Use your phone’s camera to scan compatible test strips.

  • Fast and easy

  • Automatically detects values

  • Reduces manual errors

Enter manually

Add your readings yourself using:

  • Test strips

  • Store water tests

  • Other manual testing methods

💡 Tip: The app highlights which readings are due soon (like sanitizer) and which are needed less often (like alkalinity or hardness).

Get the best results when scanning

If you’re using the test strip scanner:

  • Place the strip on a flat white background

  • Use bright lighting and avoid shadows

  • Take the photo within 60 seconds of dipping the strip

  • Align the strip with the on-screen guide

After submitting your test

Once your readings are added:

  • Your values are updated in the Water dashboard

  • Recommendations adjust automatically

  • Your water status (Balanced, Adjustments needed, etc.) may change
