Before you add chemicals

Last updated About 4 hours ago

You might see this as

  • "The app told me to add acid and now my pH is too low"

  • "I added what the app said and nothing changed"

  • "I can't get pH and alkalinity in range at the same time"

  • "The app says my water is unbalanced but doesn't tell me what to add"

Quick answer

The app's doses are only as good as the information it has: your latest test, your spa's volume, and the product and concentration saved in Chemicals. Checking those three before you add anything prevents most surprises.

Before every dose

  1. Re-test if your last test isn't from today. One wrong value, typed or scanned, changes the dose.

  2. Check your spa's volume in the app. See How to edit the volume of your spa.

  3. Check the product and its concentration in Chemicals. A stronger product than the one saved means a bigger change than expected. See How to add or edit a chemical.

  4. Follow the label on your product. If it says something different from the app, the label comes first.

  5. Re-test before adding more. Give the water time to circulate first, as your product's label says.

What you see

What it means

What to try

You added chemicals and the app still shows the reading as low or high

The alert stays on until the reading is clearly back in range, usually within 24 hours

Give the water time to circulate, then re-test before adding more.

The app says "Add according to the package instructions" instead of an amount

The product saved in Chemicals is missing its active ingredient or its percentage

Edit the chemical and add both, from the product label. See How to add or edit a chemical.

The dose looks far too big or too small

Usually the spa volume or the product concentration

Check both before adding anything (steps 2 and 3 above).
