Water and waterlab

My waterlab shows no readings, or readings I don't trust

Last updated About 4 hours ago

You might see this as

  • "My waterlab shows the temperature but not the water quality"

  • "The app only shows Add a probe"

  • "The pH reads 9.3 but my strip says 6.8"

  • "The pH is stuck at the same value"

  • "My waterlab stopped sending readings"

Quick answer

A Gecko waterlab works with an in.touch 3+. It needs your spa to be online, the probe to be in the water, and some time to settle after it's installed or replaced. Most missing or odd readings come from one of these three.

What to try

No readings at all, and the app says your spa is offline

Start with The app says my spa is offline. The waterlab can only send readings when your spa is online.

Only the temperature shows, or only "Add a probe"

Check that the probe is installed and fully in the water, then restart (steps below). If it still doesn't show, contact us in the chat.

Readings stopped updating

Restart (steps below), then give it a few minutes.

A new or replaced probe gives odd readings

The probe needs time to acclimate: most within about 30 minutes, some up to 72 hours. See Probe acclimation for Gecko waterlab.

The probe and your test strip don't agree

A test strip can give you an idea, but it isn't precise enough to calibrate the probe. Have your pH tested by a pool and spa specialist, and note what the app shows at the same time. If the gap stays about the same over a few tests, contact us in the chat: we can adjust the pH reading with you.

The probe shows 0, or values that make no sense

Contact the place where you bought your spa or your waterlab.

Steps: restart your waterlab

  1. Turn your spa or swim spa off at its breaker.

  2. Wait 15 seconds, then turn it back on.

  3. Give it a few minutes. The waterlab light goes through its startup sequence and the app reconnects.

Restarting doesn't erase your data or your readings.
