Weak or Bad RF connection between in.touch 3 modules

Last updated 4 months ago

Overview

Your in.touch 3 system connects wirelessly through radio frequency (RF) communication between the EN (Home) and CO (Spa) modules. If the connection becomes weak or unstable, the app may show low RF Strength or lose communication with your spa. Follow these steps to identify and resolve weak RF signal issues.

Before you start

Check your RF strength in the Gecko App:

  1. Go to Menu → Settings → Devices.

  2. Look under in.touch 3 for RF Strength.

    • Excellent: Strong and stable

    • Good: Normal operation

    • Weak or Poor: May cause disconnections or delays

💡 Weak RF signal doesn’t always mean hardware issues, it’s often caused by interference, obstacles, or distance between the two modules.

Step-by-step troubleshooting

1. Check the module placement

  • Ensure the EN (Home) module is placed upright and not behind large metal objects, appliances, or concrete walls. The module should be installed near a window, or pointing directly at your spa.

  • The CO (Spa) module should be installed above the spa pack, as high as possible and pointing the EN (Home) module inside the cabinet for better signal reach.

  • Avoid placing modules near:

    • Wi-Fi routers

    • Smart home hubs

    • Large electrical motors (e.g., pool pumps or HVAC units)

2. Verify module distance

  • The recommended maximum distance between the EN and CO modules is about 15 meters (50 feet) in open air.

  • If modules are farther apart or separated by thick walls, signal quality may degrade.

  • If possible, move the EN (Home) module closer to the spa’s exterior wall.

3. Change the RF channel

If the signal remains weak after checking placement:

  1. Open Settings → Devices.

  2. Tap the RF Channel number.

  3. Choose a different channel (try one at least 5–10 numbers away from the current one).

  4. Wait for both modules to re-sync.

👉 See: How to change the RF channel of your in.touch 3

4. Reboot both modules

Rebooting can reset communication between modules:

  1. In Settings → Devices, tap Reboot for both the EN and CO modules.

  2. Wait for the LEDs to return to normal (usually solid blue).

5. Check for obstacles and interference

  • Avoid having other wireless devices (like Wi-Fi extenders or baby monitors) operating near the same frequency.

  • If possible, power off nearby electronic devices one by one to identify any source of interference.
