My test strip or sanitizer isn't in the app

Last updated About 3 hours ago

You might see this as

  • "My test strip isn't an option"

  • "The app can't read my test strips"

  • "I use hydrogen peroxide, there's no way to set that in the app"

  • "My chemical brand isn't in the list"

Quick answer

The Test Strip Scanner reads a list of supported strips, and the app gives water care steps for four sanitizer methods: chlorine, bromine, FROG @ease and salt. If yours isn't listed, you can still enter your readings by hand.

What to try

Your strip isn't in the scanner list

Enter your readings manually instead of scanning (see How to test your water), and tell us the exact brand and product name in the chat so we can look at adding it.

Your strip is supported but the scan fails

See Test strip scan could not be completed: light, focus, and the whole strip in the frame.

You use another sanitizer, like copper or hydrogen peroxide

The app and the Gecko waterlab don't measure other sanitizers, so the app can't give you steps for them. If you're looking at changing your sanitizer, your dealer can help you choose.

Your chemical brand isn't in the list

Add it by hand with its ingredient and concentration. See How to add or edit a chemical.
