My spa's temperature isn't what I set

Last updated About 2 hours ago

You might see this as

  • "I can't raise the temperature above 85° in the app"

  • "My hot tub is heating in economy mode"

  • "It's set to 37 but it heats up to 41.5"

  • "My swim spa won't go above 99"

  • "The spa wasn't warm at my session time"

Quick answer

The most common reason is Economy. During an economy period, your spa holds a target 20 °F (11 °C) lower than the temperature you set. The heater still runs if the water drops below that lower target, it just runs less. The Away Watercare mode runs economy all day.

What is most likely happening

What to try

The spa is cooler than your setting, every day or at set hours

An economy period is active

Open the ☰ menu > Settings > Water Care and check which mode is selected and its economy hours. Standard with no economy period holds your temperature around the clock.

You don't see Water Care in Settings

Your Smart Spa Routine is on. While it is on, it manages heating and filtration for you

To choose a Water Care mode yourself, turn the routine off in Energy > Smart Routine. Water Care then appears in Settings.

It started after your Premium ended or your Smart Spa Routine was turned off

The routine is what switches between Away and Standard. Without it, the spa stays on the last mode it was on

Choose Standard yourself in Water Care. The mode now stays where you put it.

The keypad and the app show different temperatures

The spa follows the last value entered, from either one

Set the temperature once, from the app or the keypad, and leave the other one alone.

Your swim spa won't go above a certain temperature

Each spa manufacturer sets the maximum temperature for its models, and many swim spas have a lower maximum than hot tubs

This limit comes from your spa's manufacturer. Your dealer can confirm the maximum for your model.

The spa wasn't warm at your session time

A spa heats slowly, and how fast depends on its heater and the volume of water. The routine starts heating ahead of your session to make up for it

See Why does my spa start heating before my scheduled routine? If it is still not ready, send us the session time and target temperature in the chat.

The water is hotter than your setting

This needs a look at your spa's settings and data

For your comfort, we suggest not using the spa until it is back near your setting. Send us the details below in the chat.

Steps

  1. Open Water Care and note which mode is selected, and whether an economy period is set. This tells us whether a lower temperature is expected.

  2. If you want your temperature all day, select Standard with no economy period.

  3. Allow a few hours before checking again. A spa heats slowly.

Still not right? Send us these in the chat

  • The temperature you set, and the temperature you see

  • Which Water Care mode is selected, and whether a Smart Spa Routine is on

  • Your keypad model (printed on the keypad or in your spa's manual)

  • When it last happened, and what you changed just before

No need to watch the water over several hours: we can read your spa's temperature history directly.
