Overview

The Chemicals section in the Gecko App lets you manage the products you use to maintain your spa water. By adding your exact brand and type of chemicals, the app can give you personalized water care recommendations and accurate dosing instructions based on your chosen products.

This ensures that every adjustment, whether it’s sanitizer, pH, or alkalinity matches your specific chemical brand and concentration.

Where to find it

  1. Open the Gecko App.

  2. Tap the Menu icon (☰) in the top-left corner.

  3. Go to Chemicals.

How the Chemicals section works

The app lists the main categories of spa maintenance chemicals, such as:

  • Slow-Release Bromine

  • Bromine Activator

  • pH Up / pH Down

  • Alkalinity Up / Alkalinity Down

  • Hardness Increaser

Each category includes products that match the sanitizer or balancing system your spa uses.

Adding or selecting your chemicals

You can add chemicals in two ways:

1. Scan the product barcode

If your product isn’t listed, tap Add a New Chemical and use your camera to scan the barcode on the bottle or package.

2. Add manually

If your chemical doesn’t have a barcode, tap My Product Doesn’t Have a Barcode and enter the details manually, such as product name, concentration, and form (granules, liquid, tablets, etc.).

💡 Once added, your chemical will appear in the list under its corresponding category.

Using and managing your chemicals

  • Tap a product in the list to select it as your active chemical for that category.

  • Tap Use This Product to apply it.

  • Tap Delete This Product if you no longer use it.

Why it matters

By adding your actual chemicals, the app can:

  • Adjust water care recommendations to match your brand’s concentration.

  • Provide accurate dosage instructions when your water needs balancing.
