My Home module blinks and never links to the spa

Last updated About 2 hours ago

You might see this as

  • "My Home module is flashing blue and won't connect"

  • "Both modules are blinking blue, they can't see each other"

  • "The RF channel is greyed out"

  • "My internet is fine but the spa keeps losing connection"

Quick answer

The Home module talks to the Spa module by radio. A Home module light that blinks slowly means it is still looking for the Spa module. Most of the time it's the distance or what stands between the two modules, and sometimes the pairing just needs to be done again.

Before you start: the Spa module light

The Spa module is the blue box inside your spa's access panel, not the keypad on top of the spa. If you're comfortable opening the access panel, look at the light without touching anything inside while the spa is on.

Solid blue

The link is likely weak: check placement below.

Yellow, blinking fast

Looking for the Home module

Follow the steps below, then pair again.

Solid yellow

Starting up

Wait a minute.

Solid red

It can't reach the spa's control system

Its cable to the spa pack may be loose. If you're comfortable, turn the spa off at its breaker first, then check that the cable is firmly plugged in. If it stays red, contact us in the chat.

White

It couldn't start properly

Restart the spa at its breaker. If it stays white, contact us in the chat.

Steps

  1. Check the signal. In the Gecko app, open ☰ menu > Settings > Devices and look at RF Strength. Weak or Poor means the modules are too far apart or something is in the way.

  2. Check placement. The Home module should stand upright, facing your spa, as close to the spa as possible. The Spa module works best above the spa pack, as high as possible, facing the Home module. Up to 15 m (50 ft) works in the best case, in open air; walls, cabinets and anything in between reduce that. Keep both modules away from smart home hubs, large motors (pool pumps, HVAC units) and other wireless devices such as baby monitors.

  3. Restart both modules in order: spa breaker off 15 seconds and back on, Home module unplugged 10 seconds and plugged back in, then give the app 2 minutes.

  4. Pair them again. With a paperclip, press once quickly in the small hole next to the Home module light (it turns yellow). Then turn the spa off at the breaker and back on, and give the modules a few minutes.

The RF channel in Settings > Devices can only be changed once the two modules are connected. If it is greyed out, the Home module can't reach the Spa module yet: placement comes first.
