Session Grace Period explained

Last updated 1 day ago

Overview

The grace period is a short window at the end of a spa session that gives you extra time to extend your session if you are still using the spa. Instead of ending abruptly, the session signals that it is about to close and waits for any activity before shutting down.

💡 Tip: The grace period is designed so your session never ends unexpectedly while you are actively in the spa.

How it works

When your session enters the grace period (the last 5 minutes), the app watches for any qualifying action from you. If you interact with the spa, your session is automatically extended by 30 minutes from the time of that action. The session then resumes normally and will go through a new grace period before it ends again.

If no qualifying action is taken during the grace period, the session ends.

Qualifying actions

The following actions trigger a session extension during the grace period:

  • Turning a pump on or off

  • Adjusting the temperature setpoint

  • Changing a light state

These actions can be performed from the Gecko App or directly from the spa keypad.

Session extension

  • Each qualifying action extends the session by 30 minutes from the time the action was taken

  • There is no limit to how many times a session can be extended

  • After each extension, the session resumes normally and a new grace period will begin before it ends

Stop a session early

You can stop a session at any time from the Gecko App, even during the grace period.

  1. Go to the homepage

  2. Tap Stop session

The spa will return to energy-saving mode immediately. If a scheduled session was waiting, it will start right away.

Scheduled sessions and the grace period

A new scheduled session starts during your grace period

If a new scheduled session is set to begin while your current session is in its grace period:

  • The new session is held and does not start yet

  • If the grace period expires with no qualifying action, the new session starts immediately

You act during the grace period while a session is waiting

If you perform a qualifying action while a scheduled session is waiting:

  • Your current session is extended by 30 minutes

  • The scheduled session remains on hold

  • The scheduled session will only start once your extended session completes its own grace period with no further qualifying action

⚠️ Note: A pending scheduled session waits indefinitely. It will not start until the active session has fully ended.
