How to add or edit a chemical in the Gecko App

Overview
The Chemicals section in the Gecko App lets you add the exact products you use to treat your spa water. By entering your chemicals through barcode or manual entry, the app can give you precise dosing recommendations based on your specific brand and formula.
You can follow the same process to add new chemicals or edit existing ones.
Step-by-step instructions
Open the Gecko App
Launch the app on your smartphone or tablet.Go to Settings → Chemicals
Tap the Menu icon (☰), then select Settings and open the Chemicals tab.Select the chemical category
Tap the category you want to configure
You’ll see a list of products already associated with that category.Add a new chemical or choose an existing one
Tap Add a New Chemical to start the guided setup.
You can also tap an existing chemical to select Use This Product or Delete This Product.
Adding a new chemical
Follow the in-app steps to provide details about your product:
1. Scan the product barcode
Tap Scan Product Barcode and point your device’s camera at the label.
If your product doesn’t have a barcode, choose My Product Doesn’t Have a Barcode.
2. Confirm the active ingredient
Select the active ingredient listed on your product’s packaging.
If you’re unsure or your ingredient isn’t listed, select Other or I don’t know.
3. Enter the active ingredient percentage
Provide the percentage indicated on your package, or choose I don’t see an active ingredient percentage if it’s unavailable.
4. Select tablet or product size (if applicable)
Choose the size that matches your chemical form — for example, Small for hot tub tablets or Large for pool tablets.
5. Review and confirm your product details
Double-check your chemical information, then tap Start Using to save it.
Tips & related info
Follow all in-app instructions carefully, the app tailors questions based on the type of chemical you’re adding.
Once added, your product will appear under the selected category and will be used in future water care recommendations.
You can edit or delete a chemical anytime if you change brands or formulations.
